Obituary

Duane Morris Larson passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones in Lake Havasu City, Arizona on October 8, 2018. Duane was born on September 25, 1938 to Kittie Mae and Morris Larson in Douglas County, Wisconsin. At the time of his birth, Duane's older siblings included Larry and Donna; his younger sister, Rita, followed. Duane graduated from East High School in Superior, Wisconsin in 1956. Soon after graduation, Duane joined the US Marine Corps, where he served honorably. From an early start in the shipyards of Superior and Seattle, to estimating for the construction and manufacturing industries, Duane enjoyed a varied and satisfying professional career until his retirement in 2001. Outside the workplace, Duane had a passion for building and renovation projects for himself, family and friends, which continued up until recent months. Over the years he also enjoyed bowling and golfing, which kept him fit and social. In March 1961, Duane married Karen Swanson in Lake Nebagamon, Wisconsin. Their daughter, Kim Leslie, was born in December 1961, followed by their son, Kent Duane, in April 1968. In 2001, Duane met his special partner, Patricia Johnson. For 16 years they both loved spending summers in northern Minnesota and avoiding the cold winter months in Lake Havasu City in Arizona. Duane is survived by his children, Kim and Kent; his grandchildren, Erika and Kevin; his sisters, Donna and Rita; and special partner, Patricia. A celebration of Duane's life will be held in northern Wisconsin next spring.
