Gary Stein, 75, of Planet Earth, passed on June 24, 2021. He was born in Hollywood on September 29, 1945 and raised with love by Charles and Dorothy Stein. He is survived by 3 children--Cassandra, Travis, and Justin--and preceded in death by his daughter Tifni. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren. Gary aspired to cast away materialism and the expectations of a society that can drive us to destroy our dreams. He worked in the oil industry before leaving due to the greed that he felt it perpetuated. Subsequently, he spent many years looking for a place to live true to his values and self. He was a wood cutter, a caretaker of a ranch, and eventually, an owner of a family video store. This last excursion led him into a decades-long business trading movies with video stores in every town with a name. During this, he found every beautiful, strange, and wonderful side-road in the place that he loved to call his home, the Western US. He was a true western archetype. He was a perpetual seeker of truth, and he taught his children to bring goodness into the world. His perspectives were as varied as the roads he travelled--unyielding in pursuit of justice for all human beings. He shared laughter, games, music, and of course films with everyone he encountered.
