Obituary

Larry Leroy Schubert, age 68, passed away peacefully at his home in Lake Havasu City Arizona on April 12, 2021 with family by his side. The son of the late Chester and Alta Schubert of Tigard, Oregon, Larry was born May 8, 1952 in Portland. He attended Tigard schools and graduated from Tigard High School in 1970. During high school he worked at Tigard Western Auto and upon graduation enlisted in the US Air Force with basic training at Lackland Air Base in San Antonio, Texas. He completed his six year military career serving in the U.S. Army National Reserves. He was married to Karen Marie Sweet of Portland and they had one daughter, Kerianne. Larry was employed as fabrication lead man at Siemens-Allis in Tigard for 11 years until the company moved out of state. At that point he and his family moved to Central Oregon where he started his own business, KMS Construction out of Redmond. Central Oregon was a huge part of his life with many homes and construction projects throughout the area including the Three Rivers Recreation Area, Lake Billy Chinook. Larry was one of the original property owners in the new recreation development (1969), once served on the Board of Directors. His expertise in solar installation served many in the "off grid" community, and he was instrumental in the design and installation of the Community Memorial Wall at the viewpoint. Larry enjoyed country music, classic cars and football - the Arizona Cardinals. His love for the outdoors included fishing, hunting and boating which lured him to Lake Havasu where he retired in. He designed and built a new home there to enjoy the warm winters, and in summer would travel back to Oregon to visit family and friends. He is survived by Daughter and Son-in-Law Kerianne and Jason Bethers of Bend, OR; Grandsons Hayden and Benson of Bend; Sisters Donna (Schubert) Kroo of Terrebonne, OR; Pamela (Schubert) Pearson of Medford,OR and Brother Michael Schubert of Redmond as well several nieces, nephews and cousins.
